Bridal Expo
Today was interesting. Got up early, and went to a Bridal Expo! Accompanied the good friends at LivePrints with their amazing photo booth as well as setting up my own stuff within the same booth. I personally couldn’t believe I was there with so many other vendors. People take weddings quite seriously! hahaha.
After a few hours of talking to very friendly/nice people. The grand sponsors(at least I think they were) put on a fashion show with the new suits/wedding gowns/bridal party dresses. I didn’t realize that platinum, rust and fuchsia were the colors for this season. Who decides these things?? I didn’t really have a good view of the fashion show, and didn’t have my zoom lens. But since I did bring the camera decided on trying my hand at taking a fashion show. It was interesting. The first few models threw me off because they really don’t hold the pose at the end of the runway except for a split second. It’s almost like you have to calculate their walking pace and then be prepared when they get to the end of the runway for anything. Sometimes they would pose right away, or they would do some move and then pose. And sometimes it was like a moving pose. They wouldn’t stop. It’s like running a stop sign! But that’s what makes photography fun. You mess up on the first one, but then learn/adjust and nail the rest. Next time I’ll remember to bring the other lens. One thing to remember, keep the shutter speed fast so that you can get a crisp shot. Those models walk fast. Since I didn’t have flash, I bumped the ISO high, and lowered the aperture to allow the most light in. Yea, we’ll see grain in the shots, but sometimes you want clear pictures and can live with the noise.
Inspiration:
Going to this bridal show, I saw the other vendors and how talented they were in their craft. Whether it was another photographer, a dj, or a clothing company. All were professional and seemed like they belonged there. Today reminded me of how far I’ve come in taking pictures. By no means am I saying I have it all together, I still have so much to learn and experience. But the progress I’ve made is definitely unreal to me. Where I began, to where I am now. Had a lot of help from friends, family and mainly – the Man upstairs. Sometimes He overwhelms you with things that you don’t deserve(grace).
“Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty handed, but alive in your hands
Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by your love
In the presence of your Majesty” – (Chorus from the song “Majesty” by Delirious?)
