Your talent…let me see it

I really don’t take photo’s of landscapes unless I’m on vacation. But when I saw the fall colors on trees, I tried to become a landscape photographer. I actually went outside and drove to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL with the specific purpose of just taking photos of the fall colors. I would’ve loved to take pictures of someone standing in the fall colors, because that’s what I usually do but didn’t have a subject. I was gifted a membership from a good friend and finally got a chance to use it. I must say, what a beautiful place. The whole park is well laid out and well maintained. I’m so glad I went and just took pictures without any other motive in mind. It was not only relaxing and beautiful, but I had a chance to just practice. I used my polarizing filter which really helped bring out the colors of the sky and helped me not to overexpose. I didn’t go during the golden hours and the best time to take pictures, because I slept in and woke up late, so I reached the park when the sun was well in place. With the filter, I was able to go down to f2.8 and keep my shutter speed relatively slow and take photo’s which didn’t look ‘faded’ and lacking in color. If you are a serious outdoor photographer, I think you already own one of these types of filters, but if not, go and purchase one because wow. It is really worth the investment.

On a side note, just a shout out to the people at Morton Arboretum. I never looked at gardening and people taking care of plants as an ‘art’. I always drive by and see people do landscaping and think it looks nice and tidy. But to imagine where and how to plant different species of plants and make it look as good as it does at the park, it takes a lot of creativity and knowledge to do so. Just reinforces the thought that if you have a talent or hobby, don’t be afraid to show it to people. There will be people who will appreciate what you can do and see beauty in it.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork. Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge. There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard. Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world. – Psalm 19:1-4a(Amplified Bible)
