Munich, Germany

I had the privilege of visiting Munich, Germany last week. Didn’t get too much time to wander around, but did manage to walk around one evening. Enjoyed the trip, the people and the food. Must say, they make a great apple strudel!

While walking around, I tried not focusing too much on taking pictures. Mainly because of two reasons: the person I was with me wasn’t into photography like me(so I felt bad taking too many shots and really spending time trying to get the perfect shots), and secondly I wanted to enjoy what I was looking at rather than trying to get the next shot and the next shot. I find myself always starting off by enjoying myself and taking pictures, but all too often I spend more time looking through the camera than being in the moment. Of course, if you’re getting paid to take pictures, feel free to spend more time looking through the lens, haha. But in either case, you have to recognize what’s happening around you. When sight seeing, around every corner there might seem like there’s a building you wanted to take a picture of. But pick your shots. You want to take shots that cause some emotion or reminds you of something. You don’t want to take a bunch of pictures that you won’t want to look at again. If it’s something that has an affect on you, take it. Again, enjoy yourself. You don’t want to come back and realize you are looking at something for the first time through your picture instead of having stood in front of it.

In the following shots, I realize I probably broke all the “rules” of taking pictures. Instead of filling the frame on many shots, I zoomed out and took as much of the building that would fit. Didn’t do too much of rule of thirds. In the end, the customer is me. And I think they are alright 🙂

Inspiration:
It’s always been a desire of mine to travel and take pictures. Without even planning it, I had the opportunity to go out there and was fortunate in staying somewhere close to the city and being able to spend an evening walking around. Many times I’ve given up on dreams, or have given up on desires of mine. It’s because I think it’s too hard to achieve. I end up thinking it’s really not that important that I have that. I think I won’t be able to afford it. I make up an excuse and then I settle with myself that my dreams will not become reality. I settle on how far I’ve come without realizing what the future holds. I keep on settling on something less than my dreams and my wants…but lately…my world’s been turned upside down. The impossible dreams have become more than reality. Not because of my doing.

Psalm 21: 2 – “Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.”

Whatever it may be, don’t hold God to just a Provider for our needs, but trust Him to be a Giver of your desires. May not be fulfilled like you expect, it’ll be better than you can imagine.
