Looking Ahead
Had the opportunity to visit Tennessee this last weekend for a short vacation. Visited Nashville, Memphis(Graceland) and a little bit of Gatlinburg and the Smoky’s. Yes, it was a lot for three days, but was a lot of fun.
Over these couple of days, what did I learn about photography? Carrying around a dslr is a pain! hahaha! But must admit, when looking at the pictures afterward, definitely worth it. But the main thing that I learned was to look ahead. What do I mean? One of the friends wanted to try taking pictures using the camera, so I gave it up for a while. All through the while, I looked at the street ahead in which we were walking on and looked for things to take pictures of. Whenever I would find something, I’d tell them to take a picture of what I wanted. But this freed me up to look ahead and really find things I liked. Otherwise I would take a picture and then have to run up to the friends as they were halfway down the block potentially missing something else. When I was handed the camera back, I tried to plan my shots better. Looking ahead and choosing particular things rather than just clicking away.
Inspiration
At times, it seems like living spontaneously is the only way to live. There are so many unscripted things that happen that it seems like I’m always on the defense or living to react to what’s happening. At times, I react just in time to react to what is coming next. Just like taking a picture and then running up to the next shot and missing all the in between. What would it look like if I were to go on the offense? What would it look like if I was the one to strike first? So how would I do it?… I would need to figure out the end and script my way back to where I am right now. I would have to look ahead and see what matters the most. What makes me smile. What makes me want keep going….There’ll be days that sidetrack me. Of course, we cannot control everything, especially since there are so many people that we can’t control that can ‘ruin’ our day…but the beauty of it is, you’ll still be on track IF your end goal is something that cannot be messed up by someone else. If it is something that you can get closer to every day.
Matthew 10:39 – He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
